The bad: Terrible range, lots of static in picture and audio, green LEDs way too bright (receiver lights up our bedroom even when video screen is off). And the biggie - it works on the same frequency as pretty much all consumer Wifi routers which means we have to unplug both cameras in order to use our wireless internet, *every* morning.

The good: The three available operating modes are nice. Night vision works well for us but we have the cameras really close to the cribs (twins). Sound alarm is nice since the actual audio has static (we turn the ambient audio off and just listen for the alarm).

Tivo is great product that i find it. I want to test it with my Tivo HD, which, with a tiny built in 160GB drive, is in dire need of extra space.

I have to say, this logic only works when we’re talking about drives intended for something other than DVRs, or drives from companies that do not have a reputation as a great hard drive maker,as Seagate does. The question is, why did TiVo stop testing CE eSATA drives after falling in love with WD’s?

I will continue talking to both companies about this issue,because I feel strongly that the ban on Seagate drives be lifted here, especially for a totally legitimate means of adding extremely necessary additional storage.

All this does is promote hackery. Speaking of which, anybody got any good tips for hacking a Seagate DVR expander onto my otherwise awesome TiVo HD?

The TivoHD model requires the WD unit to be plug and play, but the skills to graft a non-supported drive on are minimal and easily found over at the various Tivo-oriented forums.

Having two or more TiVo DVRs connected to your home network gives you two or more times the viewing freedom. Record a show on one TiVo DVR and watch it on another in the house.
